Creating a positive student experience on OES partner websites

21 February, 2022

Looking after public-facing websites for our university partners, Leon brings his own unique skills to support the student journey. As Digital Platform Coordinator, he makes sure every website provides an optimal experience for prospective students, built on best practice design and functionality.

“It’s important that our websites are representative of the high-quality learning experience students can expect,” Leon says. “The sites need to provide an enjoyable user experience and efficiently direct users to the information required to make their decision.”

Creating the best user experience

Leon holds degrees in marketing and design thinking and has significant experience in website management. As part of OES’s Digital Marketing Team, he coordinates a schedule of functionality upgrades across all partner sites. Working alongside university and OES stakeholders, he keeps a sharp eye on website analytics, always with a view to improving performance.

“Working with websites and creating the best user experience for a broad range of audiences requires an inherent perseverance,” Leon says. “Teamwork is the key to consistently find creative solutions.”

Turning website visits into enrolment leads

OES places a high priority on understanding student needs based on past online behaviours. In a competitive market that often involves a long customer journey to purchase, websites need to be ready to help prospective students at every step.

Testing and sharpening SEO (search engine optimisation) and CRO (conversation rate optimisation) is an ongoing task. Website personalisation strategies are also critical to Leon’s deliverables.

“We’re empowered to take an innovative approach to our websites, and much of what we do is creating solutions to present detailed information,” he explains. “We use thoughtful CRO testing and personalisation strategies to create targeted, enjoyable experiences for prospective students.”

A culture of development

Being Melbourne-based, Leon is excited to return to an exciting new office after a lengthy stint working from home. He particularly values the balance of autonomy and collaboration OES offers.

“Over the past 18 months I’ve taken on challenges that have allowed me to develop my skills in digital marketing,” he says. “I get to be a driver of change in areas that interest me, or where I identify a need. At the same time, I enjoy learning from fun, interesting and intelligent colleagues, many with years of industry experience to share.”
