Understanding students via research and data is at the heart of OES. Market Insights Researcher Adi helps ensure our higher education solutions are based on genuine evidence of students’ learning needs and preferences.
Informing growth strategies
As Adi explains, quality market insights are critical in the increasingly competitive online education landscape.
“I provide insights to inform growth strategies for our partner institutions. For example, what students are looking for in a particular course, how to attract a new demographic of students or more general insights about how our partners can uplift their student experience,” he says.
Market insights help OES and its partners expand into new markets while continuing to improve the student experience in existing markets. Adi uses insights to advise partners on how to create the best possible offering to attract and retain students, often with a target demographic of students in mind.
Turning research into action
Adi leverages primary research and analysis using instruments such as surveys, focus groups and data sets. He manages a range of relationships with external agencies that help to deliver impactful and timely insights for OES. Within OES, Adi works closely with our marketing and strategy teams and our partner managers.
“I love having the opportunity to turn insights into action. It’s so exciting to see my research make an impact and influence the direction we take with OES products,” he says.
A key part of making research actionable is communication, keeping in mind Adi’s diverse and often senior stakeholders.
“I need to clearly articulate my recommendations in a compelling way to drive change. I am now an expert at writing compelling one-page summaries!
Adi recently completed research to better understand how students choose an education provider. He also contributed to a full-scale mapping of the student journey, to understand student behaviours and expectations from the first time they speak to an OES course consultant all the way through to graduation.
An agile role in a very cool team
Adi is part of the Student Experience and Insights team. It’s a tight-knit group, which makes work fun and supportive.
“We all share a passion for research and insights – we’re just a bunch of very cool nerds!” Adi says. “My team leaders have always been supportive, encouraging me to think about my own professional development and taking a keen interest in my journey at OES.”
Adi says working in OES research would suit an agile person who can adapt to changing priorities, deadlines and scopes. And for those who can take on the challenge, a promising career awaits.
“I’m excited to see the amazing things we do as a business, especially with the focus on new products and services. I am lucky I get to play an important role.”
