OES (Online Education Services) has partnered with ABET to leverage AI and deepen sustainability knowledge for learners worldwide.
OES has partnered with ABET – a respected US nonprofit, non-governmental agency for accrediting educational programs – to create the ABET Sustainability Microcredential, a self-paced, online training program designed for science, engineering and mathematics students and professionals who want to make a measurable impact on the world.
OES created the customised AI learning assistant, Amara, which is embedded into the microcredential, to give students access to real-world application of sustainability principles.
The 8-week self-directed course for higher education students and employees embeds sustainability and ethics into STEM education, connecting learners across borders, disciplines and career stages to meet the increasingly urgent demands of the world we live in.
Jon Davey, OES’ Chief Executive Officer, said:
This partnership between OES and ABET reinforces that sustainability is a requirement and not a consideration. Through this microcredential, we’re enabling learners to lead conversations that drive change and prepare for complex global challenges in STEM.”
To ensure this microcredential remains relevant and creates impact in sustainability, OES will continue to collaborate with ABET to evolve the course’s learning design over time.”
OES and ABET are leveraging AI to deepen learning
The ABET Sustainability Microcredential is embedded with a built-for-purpose AI assistant known as Amara, designed by OES and ABET.
A prime example of designing AI for focused and intentional use to deepen learning, Amara delivers a guided learning experience asking students and employees to reflect on their knowledge through open-ended and inquiry-based Socratic questioning aimed to sharpen critical thinking.
Amara also supports individuals to connect sustainability to their own field, career, and context so that learning pathways are tailored.
A plug-and-play solution that integrates seamlessly
The ABET Sustainability Microcredential is streamlined to fit into existing STEM programs and learning & development frameworks, offering a high-quality, self-paced learning experience trusted and recognised globally.
As a plug-and-play solution, it is designed to integrate seamlessly into STEM programs to offer students and employees a powerful applied learning experience in sustainability and ethics – all while supporting education providers and workplaces to take their training to the next level.
Key benefits of the ABET Sustainability Microcredential:
